Hi, we’re Guy and Rose. Our MiniBlox story didn’t start in a dingy office building or in a corporate boardroom; it started in our chaotic (and beautifully cluttered) living room.

When we met, we were two single parents from Melbourne who fell in love and decided to merge our lives. Almost overnight, we were navigating the wonderful, loud, and messy whirlwind of a newly blended family, with four energetic kids – all under the age of twelve. We soon noticed one common challenge that seemed to be taking over our household as we worked to build our new life together: screen time.

Like so many modern families, we found our kids spending hours glued to tablets and video games. We understood the appeal, of course… those digital worlds were full of creation, fantasy themes, and adventure, but we missed seeing the spark of hands-on, imaginative play that we remembered from our own childhoods. We wanted to find a way to get them off the screens without losing the magic of building worlds, and we wanted an activity that could bring all four of them together at the same table.

That’s when we thought, hold on… why not bring their on-screen games into physical reality? We set out to create high-quality, Australian safety standards-approved magnetic building blocks featuring the familiar environmental textures kids already love like grass, trees, water, and glowing lava. Suddenly, they could build, touch and snap together their own physical worlds! They were talking and bonding, creating elaborate stories for the minifigures (some of which ended up in the bathtub, we still don’t understand how that story went). It became the perfect medium between their love for gaming, and our desire for meaningful, screen-free play.

We would never have imagined that our efforts to connect our new family would grow into something that brings so much fun and engaging play to households across Australia. Since launching, over 20,000 families have invited MiniBlox into their homes, discovering the same joy of physical play that brought our kids closer together. We’ve grown from a quiet corner of the internet into a recognized presence in the Australian children’s play space. 

We also love connecting with our community in person! You can find us sharing our blocks at local weekend markets and proudly sitting on the shelves of boutique and independent toy stores across the country.
